Racionais is a group formed in 1989 by four young blacks from the outskirts of São Paulo. The formation of Racionais MC's took place with the union of DC Brown, which in a short time began to be called by the fans of Mano Brown, an inseparable companion of Nego Blue, who came to be called “Ice Blue” who live until today in the south end of the south zone, regional of Capão Redondo joined "Kl Nigth" after DJ Kl Jay and "Edi Nigth", today Edi Rock of the north zone. The name refers to Tim Maia's 1975 album Racional. In the south zone, Mano Brown and Ice Blue enjoyed a lot of black American music at the dances of the time (Zimbawe, Chic Show, Cascata and Baile da Sedinha). But it was not only the music that brought them together, they also had the non-conformity with social injustices and the persecutions left by the recent end of the dictatorship that lasted from 1964 to 1984. The pairs were presented at Praça São Bento, a meeting point where the four elements of “Hip Hop” the “B. Boys ”(dancers)“ DJs ”(DiscJockey),“ MC's (Masters of Ceremonies), and the Graffiti Artists. Thus was born one of the icons of Rap in Brazil. At the end of the 1980s, on the Zimbawe Records label, a label specialized in black music, the collection "Consciência Black" was launched. In this album the four friends participated with the songs "Pânico na Zona Sul", by Mano Brown, and "Tempos difficult", by Edi Rock and KL Jay.
